The Cartographer is a meditation on nature and technology, and what happens when they collide. It’s about getting lost and finding your way again. There will be cows and goats, stars and bug-bites and strange tramping prophets. There will be the sounds of microprocessors, human heartbeats, and wild things in the underbrush. It’ll be strange and funny, poetic and profound. The Cartographer explores the threshold between the modern world (its ever-engrossing technical advancements), the natural world and the human world. How can these things exist better together? How can we stop for a moment? How can we resist? www.thecartographerproject.com

Shows of this complexity, bravery and ingenuity are usually imported by the Walker Art Center… a richly layered piece of comic/tragic performance art… at turns slapstick funny, abstract, physical, emotional and metaphorical — always riveting, always surprising.
